Have You Ever Seen Geocaching Mentioned on TV? #GQotD Recap

GQotDPinterestHey cachers this is Lookout Lisa from Cache Advance, and I’m your host for the Geocaching Question of the Day.

Cache Advance is your geocaching hub for all of your caching needs, including the Cache Crate, a monthly subscription box of geocaching and outdoor gear.

Monday through Thursdays, we ask our followers on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ a question about geocaching.

We recently asked: Have you ever seen geocaching mentioned on TV?

  • After tallying all the answers, we found that 70% of cachers have seen geocaching on TV!
  • So here’s what we heard:
    • BoxesInTheWoods on Tw shared: Yes, on Pointless (a game show), both cacher contestants and a caching question!
    • VickiStrong shared: On Law & Order: SVU. Very cool.
    • Kate on FB shared: Yes, that's how I found about it. On ‘switched at birth’ 2 years ago.
      • Like Kate, many cachers reported that news stories and shows like these first introduced them to geocaching.
    • On the flip side, Jerry shared: Sadly, horribly misrepresented on a TV show. Wild maniacs racing for ubercompetitive FTFs and GPS working deep in subway tunnels.
    • Kari on FB shared: Nothing memorable, but the local news has had stories in the past. Usually they get the facts completely wrong.
      • Oh my goodness yes Kari! I see so many stories that I want to share out on our Social Media channels, but the facts are so far off that we don’t bother. These usually it starts with “Buried Treasure…” and go downhill from there.
      • Wonder if geocaching will show up more on shows in the future??

As always we really enjoyed hearing about geocaching on TV, and you can too, if you-
